MedVet Concepts: A Lifeline for Southern Koala and Echidna Rescue
Southern Koala and Echidna Rescue (SKER) is delighted to acknowledge the invaluable support of MedVet Concepts. Their ongoing partnership has been instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our on-site veterinary clinic, enabling us to provide critical care to hundreds of native animals each year.
One of the most significant ways MedVet Concepts has assisted SKER is through their exceptional service for our on-site x-ray machine. Their expertise and prompt response times have been invaluable in ensuring that our veterinary team can accurately diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses in the animals we rescue.

SKER Receives Vital Grant from Foundation SA
We’re excited to share some fantastic news! SKER has been awarded a generous grant through Foundation SA. This funding will significantly support our ongoing efforts to provide exceptional care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in our region. We are incredibly grateful for this amazing support.
May 2024: Australian Wildlife Society article
Our Director Steve Farrimond contributed an article about SKER and our activities, featured in the Autumn issue of The Journal of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Australia.
It was an excellent chance to showcase the comprehensive work done at SKER and emphasise that we are more than just a rescue service in South Australia.

25!! Koala lives lost on the southern expressway in 2023
This might not seem like much to some but this is only the ones that we know about and when you compare this to 2022’s loss of 7 Koalas for the year this is a disturbing increase.

SKER partners with Dinki Co
Southern Koala & Echidna Rescue had approached Dinki Co to establish a collaboration after learning that the company had pledged to donate a portion of all profits to charities engaged in native wildlife conservation from the company’s social media presence. From there a partnership has formed and we are planning many cross promotional activities whilst developing our 5 year partnership plan.
Amazing support from the team at Drop Bears
SKER was so pleased to be approached by Drop Bears and amazed by their generous support which has helped fund the internal fit out of our new rehabilitation centre.
Rehabilitation Centre – Stage 1 construction progressing well
Our rehabilitation centre is really starting to take shape, it is still a building site, but we are now operating out of the new enclosures and the internal fit out of the centre is underway with insulation, gyprock and painting completed.
