SKER in the community

Our amazing team of volunteers have been participating in various events throughout the Southern suburbs in the last 6 months these included:

In November 2023, Southern Community showcase held at Hackham football club which was an opportunity for local community groups to come together and share the important work we all do in the southern suburbs.

Also in November 2023, Sunday Funday markets kindly donated a stall to us where we had a stall to sell our 2024 visited and Christmas merchandise to raise funds thank you to all that visited us at our stand

In December 2023, one of our team created a popup stall at Woolworths in Brighton. A big thanks to Woolworths for allowing us to set up a stall to sell our merchandise and spread the word about all things SKER.

Also in December 2023, Dougstock Music Festival invited SKER to attend Dougstock where we had a stand to promote the work SKER does for the local community as well as raise more funds through the sale of our own branded merchandise.

In January 2024, the City of Onkaparinga held an Australia Day Breakfast event in Willunga. This was run by the Mclaren Vale Lions Club and was a great opportunity to speak with the local community, share the work we do and share our 24-hour emergency hotline with the local community. The Mclaren Vale Lions club kindly donated $500 to SKER for attending this event which made the early morning start for our volunteers even more worthwhile.

In March 2024, it was our third time attending this event and are grateful to the organisers for once again inviting us. it was a hot day but that didn’t deter the local community from coming out and gave us a vital opportunity to fundraise and once again get our number out the locals who reside in a high koala incident zone. Through our conversations we were able to educate locals on signs of a sick koala and only one week later one of those locals called us to assist a very unwell koala.
